The Brain Injury Association of NC is fortunate to have a partnership with Wake Forest Baptist Health (formerly Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center) in Winston-Salem. A Resource Room has been set up on the 3rd floor of the Sticht Center (same floor as in-patient brain injury unit) and is manned currently by Peggy Nelson and Kitty Barringer. These are individuals who have personal experience with brain injury. They can provide you with educational materials, help you find a resource, offer peer support, locate a support group or set up a training session.

Once again, Peggy and Kitty and their now famous "Core Committee" have pulled off another fabulous day. The weather was sunny and bright and the food was abundant and well organized and well cooked and well served. Everyone walked and rolled over to the shelter 3 which was by the lake and there was lots to do when they arrived...massages available, our popcorn/cotton candy/pretzel queen Anessa and assistant, Lead Ombudsman Betty L. with hats and goodies, lots of muffins, fruit, bananas and lara bars and a beautiful lake so it was hard to get everyone to head back. Finally a day without rain. We want to give a big thanks to Lippard Lodge and their staff who supported this event.
Emily Byrd as MC did a GREAT job and everyone loved her. We appreciate her support. Emily is the morning meteorologist on the Fox 8 /WGHP-TV of Winston-Salem/Greensboro market. Read about our sponsors and those who helped us make the day a big success.

Educational Group: Kitty Barringer has started a weekly educational session on the Brain Injury Unit staring Jan.11 from 12:30-1:30 so families and in-patients will be able to get information and learn about BIANC and resources available to them, including Complementary membership, Skill Packs, and Resource information. The tiime may be shifted to later in the day to meet more families.
