Behavioral and emotional changes following brain injury are some of the most challenging needs service providers face.    To offer comprehensive care, attention must be given to the psychological changes that may occur after brain injury. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about common behavioral and emotional considerations after brain injury and strategies to help survivors. This presentation is available as a webinar.

New HRSA GRANT

BIANC received a federal HRSA grant through the Division of Mental Health. We will be offering technical assistance in getting new clubhouse models of day programming started for individuals including military service members with brain injuries, we will be identifying and training family/survivor ombudsman and reaching out to families, civilian and military, to offer support and resources.

BIANC has identified family members and individuals with brain injury experience to provide education and help others in their effort to resolve problems with getting the services they need? BIANC has selected individuals who are able and willing to volunteer 4 to 12 hours per week and learn about rights and services available for individuals with brain injuries in school systems, nursing homes and other public services. Training is underway and space and supervision are being provided at the four BIANC Family and Community Offices.

New Staff for BIANC and some changes in assignments:

Jamie Pierce has joined BIANC as the new Statewide Training Coordinator.

Sandie Worthington is now the Regional Outreach Coordinator in the BIANC Greenville office.

Brittnye Batchelor is now the Assistant Regional Outreach Coordinator in the BIANC Raleigh office and will be working as the Day Program Coordinator for the HRSA grant.

Staci Thornton is now working as our Fund Raising Coordinator and will be encouraging new sponsors and local college groups to get involved with BIANC.

Susan Fewell is working on outreach and training and helping with the Ombudsman program.
