Here are some events we have been involved in!
It was a fabulous day on March 27th at Lake Crabtree County Park at the 6th annual Triangle/Raleigh Walk & Roll-athon and many thanks to the work of our planning staff. Our President and at least 3 board members were out to help and lots of quality volunteers and each and every person had a good time. Thanks to all who brought along family and friends to help. The weather was fabulous. The DJ and music, our National Anthem singer, and all the display booths and Bouncy Castle and face painting contributed. The 'home' cooked hot dogs and hamburgers were the best and the volunteers and interns and BIANC staff and all the worker bees....were awesome. Early reports are that we had over 250 in attendance.

The Pulley Watson Bike Safety event in Durham from 2-4pm on March 27 at the Pavillion was fantastic...and they gave away 100 helmets to kids, had a bicycle rodeo, had ice cream and a clown who made balloon stuff and BIANC entertained with Pilot club puppets and brain injury safety messages. See pictures below:
The Fayetteville Walk & Roll-athon was awesome. Saturday, March 20 was a beautiful sunny day. Thanks to the work and dedication of many members of the Fayetteville Support Group, this event was well-planned for the 4th year. Over 100+ survivors, family members and friends came to Honeycutt park to enjoy a great day and walk for brain injury. The Mayor read a proclamation, a police office read bicycle safety tips, survivors told their story and the Chick-fila cow and other staff gave out sandwiches and chips for lunch.
The Triad Walk & Roll-athon was on April 10th in High Point at City Lake Park. Peggy Nelson and the Core committee rocked again for the 4th year in a row with a fabulous and well-organized event. The "Lobe Trotters" took the Team Spirit Award from Baptist Hospital. The Chick-fila cow was there to help us with lunch and the Mayor of High Point attended and said a few words to bring attention to brain injury.
The Greenville Walk & Roll-athon was held on April 17th and was a beautiful day. We walked for the troops, we walked for safety, we walked for our own health. Our band lead singer was sick but with the sound system, we had music. Our volunteers helped with arts and crafts, face painting, and registration and giving out T-shirts. Awards were given to those who collected pledges to raise extra money for BIANC and we had lots of good food from Chick-fila and cold drinks. Check out our album of pictures.
April 17th in Asheville....warm breeze, clouds but the sun peeking thru!!! What a great day for our 4th Walk & Roll-athon in Asheville. The day started early with volunteers scurrying around setting up banners, picking up coffee and marking the trail. Shortly the square dancers arrived and soon a lively square was started. The dancers were very entertaining and engaging, inviting everyone to join in and have a good time, which they did. Walkers arrived, testimonies were shared & friends were reunited and new ones made. The walk was around the lovely Carrier Park, close to the French Broad River and enjoyed by all. After the walk we enjoyed wonderful sandwiches by Baylee's restaurant all the while checking our raffle tickets for the winning one. A HUGE thank you to everyone that participated, both volunteering, walking and supporting our Walk. We look forward to seeing you again in 2011.
The Ride for the Rock on March 6, 2010 was a great success. Thanks to our major sponsor: HensonFuerst and to all the 160+ cyclists who joined us for a great start to the cycling season. There were 50k and 100k options. The weather was cool but the hilly ride warmed everyone up. The Capital Cycling Club honored Mark Ornitz, "The Rock", a team member who received a brain injury during a cycling race in 2005. All money raised goes to support the Brain Injury Association of NC.
T-shirts are available for $10 plus shipping. Call BIANC 919 833 9634
