National Family Caregivers Month
“Take Care to Give Care”
November is National Family Caregivers Month. Throughout the month is a wonderful time to recognize and honor family caregivers. The stress and struggles that may rise to ensure the well being of their loved one can not only be stressful, but can result in higher health risks for them. During the month of November, we ask that you show your appreciation, and thank family caregivers for everything they do!
Celebrating Family Caregivers during NFC month enables all of us to:
- Raise awareness of family caregiver issues
- Celebrate the efforts of family caregivers
- Educate family caregivers about self-identification
- Increase support for family caregivers
The Caregiver Action Network (CAN) is the organization that chooses the theme each year. This year’s theme, “Take Care to Give Care”, CAN has provided family caregivers with tips to ensure they take care of themselves to be strong enough to take care of their loved ones. CAN states that the first rule of taking care of others: to take care of yourself first.
