DISABILITY RIGHTS NORTH CAROLINA

DRNC is a private, tax-exempt, non-profit corporation that began by offering legal representation to children and adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities. As the new Protection and Advocacy organization for North Carolina, DRNC serves people with all types of disabilities.

DRNC is available for:
-Representation of clients with disabilities.
-Public education and training on issues affecting people with disabilities.
-Technical assistance to lawyers and lay advocates.
-Contracts with advocacy and service organizations for training, referrals, technical assistance, litigation and special projects.

Inquiries about Legal Representation Disability Rights North Carolina provides very specialized legal assistance. Current priorities are cases with potential for systemic change and include: Special Education, Abuse, Neglect or Exploitation of people with disabilities, Denial of Medicaid Benefits, Alternative to Guardianship and Limited Guardianship.

Learn more about traumatic brain injury from our Online Course

We are very excited to inform you about the newest orientation and training program about traumatic brain injury (TBI) available in North Carolina. www.nctbitraining.org is an online orientation and training program available at no-cost to anyone interested in learning more about traumatic brain injury. The website contains basic information about TBI, as well as resources available in North Carolina and across the country for individuals and their families living with the effects of TBI. The training was specifically designed for LME staff, healthcare professionals, and service providers however it could be helpful to individuals with TBI and their families. The training consists of five training modules. Each module is followed by a brief quiz to maximize the effectiveness of the training.

This information and web-based training was developed by Project STAR at Carolinas Rehabiliation. This could help with your continuing education credits for your CBIS certification.
