For over 30 years, more than 150 individuals each year have gathered at Camp Carefree, just north of Greensboro, to connect and enjoy two and a half days of activities like arts & crafts, horseback riding, fishing, campfires, and dances. But Camp Thrive Together offers more than just fun. It offers brain injury survivors a safe and supportive environment where they can concentrate on thriving and making meaningful progress in their recovery, alongside caring volunteers, professionals, and fellow survivors.

As we continue hosting in-person events, we remain committed to keeping Camp Thrive Together affordable for all participants. Currently, survivors pay a small fee that helps cover food, lodging, activities, and supplies. However, the true cost for each camper is significantly higher, with the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina covering the remaining expenses.

"Attending camp was overwhelming in the best possible way and truly humbling. I can’t wait for next year”
Jonathan Allgood, Survivor, Camp 2024
"My time at camp was great. It gave me a sense of clarity, it was a place where I could be myself. Making new friends and eating good food, while mingling with people of my degree. If not for BIANC Camp I would have never known of the other people like me."
Seth Williams, Survivor, Camp 2024

The goals of our 2025 Campership Drive are clear:

  • Ensure camp remains affordable for Survivors.

  • Expand access to camp for more survivors. Every year, our camp reaches full capacity within weeks. To meet the growing demand, our hope is to expand Camps across North Carolina, utilizing creative programming to engage more participants.

  • Enhance camp programming to enrich the experience for all attendees. We seek to continuously innovate and expand our camp activities, ensuring a diverse range of engaging, inclusive, and therapeutic experiences for survivors.

We invite you to join us in supporting the Campership Drive, making camp a fun and affordable opportunity for those living with brain injury.
