Brain Injury Awareness Month

Brain Injury Awareness Month is observed each March to elevate public understanding of brain injury, reduce stigma, and highlight the needs and resilience of survivors. First established in 1984 by the Brain Injury Association of America, the campaign has grown from a week-long observance into a nationwide movement promoting prevention, education, research, and advocacy.

Here in North Carolina, the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina proudly carries this mission forward. Throughout March, we celebrate by spreading awareness across the state through a variety of events, programs, and community initiatives. From educational workshops to survivor-centered gatherings, each event is designed to inform, connect, and inspire.

Explore the calendar below and join us as we raise awareness, build understanding, and support individuals and families affected by brain injury across North Carolina.

Annual NC Brain Injury Conference

Get ready to be part of something transformative. We’re calling on dynamic professionals to share their expertise and help empower attendees with the knowledge, skills, and tools to advance the understanding, treatment, and support of individuals living with brain injury.

This year’s conference is all about momentum, diving into the cutting edge of Clinical & Rehabilitation Practices, Innovation & Emerging Practices, and Research & Policy. Together, we’ll explore what’s working in bridging the gap between acute care and community reintegration, reimagining case management to better serve survivors and families, and harnessing the power of connection and peer support in long-term recovery.

We’ll shine a spotlight on breakthroughs that are reshaping the field, where technology, psychology, and advocacy collide to create real impact. From pioneering pilot programs to creative policy solutions that tackle funding gaps, insurance challenges, and long-term care needs, this year’s sessions will equip you with actionable strategies that drive results.

To top it all off, we’re assembling an incredible lineup of thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers ready to share their real-world insights and game-changing ideas. Get ready to leave inspired, energized, and ready to make lasting change in the brain injury community.

Annual NC Needs and Gaps Survey

This is the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina’s Annual Needs and Gaps Survey.

We’ve created four distinct question paths to gather tailored information from different members of our North Carolina community: a survivor survey, a caregiver survey, a provider survey, and a professional survey. Each path contains 10-15 questions and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

This survey is completely anonymous, and all the questions are optional. It is open only to North Carolina residents. We encourage you to be as honest as you feel comfortable with–your responses help us understand the real experiences of our brain injury community in NC. Whether you’re a survivor, caregiver, professional, or provider, if you play a part in improving the lives of those living with a brain injury, we want to hear from you.

Our goal is to understand the unique needs of the brain injury community in NC. We recognize that every brain injury is personal and profoundly different, which is why we’ve customized the questions to capture diverse perspectives. The only way we can work to meet needs and fill gaps in this space is if we know where they are. We need you to identify them. Through your responses, we can better understand where North Carolina could have better support for brain injury.
